Hamilton International Short Film Showcase

We are excited to announce that Chasing Time Productions will be hosting the Hamilton International Short Film Showcase in October this year as part of the wider Hamilton Fringe Festival.
After travelling with our short films to a number of wonderful festivals over the past two years, we have often discussed bringing a similar event to Hamilton. This year seven short films from local and international filmmakers have been invited to this inaugural event and we hope that if successful, it will grow and become an annual celebration of short film.
Headlining the showcase this year is the excellent Ellen is Leaving, from director Michelle Savill. Ellen is Leaving is currently tearing up the festival circuit, winning the SXSW premiere award for short film, and last week winning at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
We have four international short films on the ticket – Academy Award-listed Wallenda (dir. VW Scheich), Parallel Avenue (dir. Leor Baum), Blunderkind (dir. Zak Mechanic) and Winter Storm (dir. Attila Adam). These four films are made by exceptionally talented filmmakers (and very nice people) and Winter Storm features score from local music wizards, The Scorelocks Collective (Jeremy Mayall and Chris Lam Sam).
Local films include Academy Award-listed Abiogenesis (dir. Richard Mans), award winning Rolling Stock (dir. Dan Inglis) and a preview screening of our own Serve and Protect (dir. Ben Woollen) before it embarks on its festival journey.
The event will be held on Wednesday 2 October at the Lido Cinema and runs for a shade under two hours. More details will follow but this promises to be a great night out and we hope it is the beginnings of a much bigger event for 2014.

We've wrapped on production!! With a huge effort from those involved we have managed to get a four day shoot squeezed into 2 two and a half days - with no sacrifice on quality I might add. You may want to know the time line until you get to see a finished product, well here is what we're intending
MARCH - Assemble edit and sync location sound
APRIL - Full edit, re-edit. Minor After Effects additions
MAY - Score, Additional dialogue recording, Color grading, Sound recording, Titles
And then we submit to festivals and hope for the best.
Check out the FACEBOOK page for lots more pics from set.

We also have a new Chasing Time logo layout. I love the look of the wind swept tree and will eventually make it part of the animated logo I'm (slowly) designing. The photo was taken in
Bodega 'The Birds" Bay, Northern California.
Cheers,

Great news for Adam Harvey's short film "Play Dead". The 2012 black-comedy/thriller produced by Chasing Time Productions has been officially selected, and will have it World Premiere screening at the 2013 Maryland International Film Festival.
The festival is in its second year and is the first East Coast festival for Chasing Time Productions
Ex-Hamilton film maker Michelle Savil has just picked up the Best Short Film award at the 2013 SXSW festival in Austin, TX!
Outstanding!!

Caldwell to Serve & Protect in Terror Canyon

It's been a good week for us here at Chasing Time. As you may or may not know, Pride of Caldwell has just been accepted to the 2013 High Desert Shorts International Film Festival. This will be the second film we have had at the HDSIFF, with Lily White screening In Competition in 2012. The festival is run by a great bunch of dedicated peolpe who love cinema and it should be considered for any festival submissions list you may be compilling. Great people, great hospitality, great food, great festival!
We have locked in dates for principle photography on To Serve and Protect. Three to four days are planned in March around the weekend of the 16th. Scott and I have a bit of early ground work to do before rallying the crew to begin sourcing materials and building props and all the good stuff that creative folk love to do (mostly). We'll be shooting with the Red Scarlet and various Zeiss Primes, but we will most certainly be using the Angenieux Cinema Lens you see below...
Death Sprint in Terror Canyon has hit 5700 views in a little over a two weeks! Loving the good feedback from those of you who enjoyed the film. The forum banter - especially the reminiscing of your childhood model car-building and destroying said built model cars is gold!
Thanks again for all you support, we honestly couldn't do it without you. Until next time,
:-)

If you haven't seen it and you want to, They No Longer Sleep Alone is now streaming right here on this very site! Head to the TNLSA page under the Films tab and have a watch.
We made this film on a crazy small budget and I think the results are great. We have come a long way from these early films but it's good to look back and take pride in some great moments (and some not so great) and appreciate that it's all about the curve of learning - and a million hours in the edit suite!

| Darryl gives it a big thumbs up! |
Pride of Caldwell will be screening in competition at the 2013 Bloody Hero International Film Festival in Phoenix, Arizona. We couldn't be happier as this is a great festival and perfectly suited to let Darryl Kitchen shine.
Thank you to all that were involved in the making of our little movie, and long may it continue to gather FF selections!
to check out the BHIFF, click here: http://www.bloodyhero.net

If you're in the area, the festival is held on February 8, 9 and 10 at the Phoenix Center for the Arts, 202 North 3rd Street (the east end of Margaret Hance Park).

The PLAY DEAD page has been added and includes the trailer for the movie directed by Adam Harvey and produced by us here at CTP. No denying that this was a tough shoot - long, dark, freezing cold nights. An epic effort from all involved and we think a pretty decent film with a good dose of black humor. Click on the "films" tab in the menu bar to see more.
Another new addition to the site is the page for our miniature drag racing short film "DEATH SPRINT". It was an incredibly fun project to shoot, so be expecting a lot more of this type of film over the course of 2013. Thanks so much to Pete Dawson and Dan Inglis for there expertise here. Again, check out the page under the "films" tab in the menu bar.
cheers!

Kingdom Come

Kingdom Come is a must-watch documentary for any aspiring independent filmmaker. If you have battled through more than your fair share of funding heartache or have been sold the seductive sweet-nothings of film investor wannabes, this little film will both delight and hurt your sensibilities. Following ex-pat Kiwi actor Daniel Gillies, the now Los Angeles-based actor, Kingdom Come is a true lesson on the difficulties facing filmmakers who want to get their passion project made. At any cost.
Watching this film made me think about our own progress in 2012 with Chasing Time Productions and the successes and disappointments that seem to come in measured doses. Unfortunately the disappointments seem to linger far longer and at times it seemed our own feature project, Hoping for Larry, took a decent step forward only to be followed by several major paces backward. Yet putting the frustrations of HfL aside, our short film, Pride of Caldwell, was accepted into several major film festivals in the USA and UK, we produced another fantastic little short directed by Adam Harvey, Play Dead, that we expect big things from in 2013, and with funding from Creative Hamilton, we travelled to the USA again and continued to build our networks overseas.
2013 promises to be another busy year with the next instalment in the Pride of Caldwell ‘trilogy’, a short film to be directed by Dan Inglis under the Chasing Time Productions banner and the continued battle to get Hoping for Larry into production.
We look forward to all of these challenges and more as we settle into the festive season. Look forward to hearing your feedback on Kingdom Come.
Cheers
